The radio-wavelength analog of the Lloyd's mirror optical interferometer. It was pioneered in Australia by Pawsey, who obtained the first radio fringes in 1946. McCready, Pawsey, and Payne-Scott used it to study the Sun in 1947, and Bolton and Stanley used it to show that the radio galaxy Cygnus A was smaller than 8 arcseconds in size.

However, the sea interferometer cannot be phase switched, and fell into disuse after the early 1950s.
