Aragonite is chemically identical to calcite (having the composition CaCO3), but has a different crystal structure. Aragonite forms at temperatures of F and is unstable at ordinary temperatures and pressures. The name comes from the province of Aragon in Spain. It is found at many sites in the United States, South America and Europe.
